I started this directory to help NBC-HWC’s with a medical related background, who want to partner with doctors, or who are comfortable with serving clients from the healthcare industry and who having a basic understanding of the medical terminology. We know not all NBC-HWC’s are interested in specifically partnering with doctors due to having found their own niche in other areas which is wonderful!

– Use the web, AI for additional assistance.
Q: What Doctor should I go to FIRST?
A: Go to which ever doctor YOU have your next appointment with! Either or ALL: Your PCP (Primary Care Physician), Endocrinologist, Cardiologist, DO, Orthopedic, Physician Assistant. Lifestyle Medicine Physicians, Functional Medicine, Integrative Medical Doctors, Physical Therapists and more.
Are you overdue to make an appointment? Now is the time! What doctor do you know for years? Who do you have a good relationship with? Which one of your doctors is new or working to build up their practice? Doctor in the family? Or do you have a friend who is a Doctor?
Q: Who should I ask or educate at my Doctors office?
– Speak to the nurse or Patient Technician who comes in to check your blood pressure, etc. Probe.
– Ask your doctor directly! Why not! Politely and confidently start with a quick brief to the point education first!
– The friendly faces at the front desk and the office manager.
– After briefly explaining what we do, get permission from the Office Manager (or ask your doctor to point out/ introduce his/her office manager and obtain permission to leave your cards and educational professional flyers in their waiting room, which may be a different flyer from the physician flyer! These flyers should explain how specifically NBC-HWC’s assist their patients “in-between” doctor visits, fill in the gap etc. and why it’s beneficial to the client and the doctor!
Q. Why is it beneficial to the DOCTOR? (What’s in it for them?)
A: Referring patients to health coaches helps doctors improve patient adherence to treatment plans, drive sustainable lifestyle behavior changes, and boost chronic disease management, all while saving physician time, reducing burnout, and increasing patient satisfaction. If the patient feels like they are improving they are likely to go back to their follow up visits to measure that improvement. Coaches bridge the gap between clinical advice and daily action, acting as key partners in care.
Q. Some more info for the doctor who may ask: Are you serious? lol
A: As serious as the AMA, the American Medical Association, who supports doctors, provides resources, supports advocacy, and maintains your and all physician profiles used in credentialing. As you know the AMA collects data on education, training, and license status, which state boards often use as part of their verification process. The are collecting outcomes of health coaches data also!
With that said the AMA has approved Category III CPT Codes through 2029 for NBC-HWC.
There are evidence based studies proving positive patient outcomes.. (Provide the doc w/ white papers / studies).
Remember to Put the CPT Codes on the Flyer!!

0591T: Health and Well-being Coaching; individual, initial assessment.
0592T: Individual, follow-up session, at least 30 minutes.
0593T: Group (two or more individuals), at least 30 minutes.
– Finally, let the doctor know we are building a directory of doctors who have partnerships with qualified Board Certified Health and Wellness Coaches only. Let them know that you know their contact information is on the public web/internet already but to help expand their patient market as a physician who is open to helping patients in-between their visits through the recommendation of health coaches, NBC-HWC, if ok with them, we would just like to add them to our directory too. Also it is beneficial to them because patients will be looking to connect with physicians that refer health coaches. (I believe most businesses want to be added to another source on the internet so they show up as high as they can in Google searches).
Note:
It is generally acceptable to list a doctor’s office or practice on another website if the information is already public (e.g., name, address, phone number,, website URL) for informational or directory purposes. However, we want to know that you brought the awareness to your doctor and you were able to provide professional brochures that speak to both the patient and the doctor long after you leave. In addition, that you were also able to obtain their acceptance or buy-in to the idea of working with NBC-HWC’s. Continuous partnership and relationship building will always be an ongoing process, but this is a tremendous 1st step.
